The creatives helping Incognito come to life
Steve Needham – Producer

[he/him] Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Steve is a founding member of Convergence-Continuum, a theater collective which is still producing provocative black box theatre nearly 25 years since it’s inaugural show. After moving to Chicago, Steve worked in various capacities with About Face Theatre, The Bailiwick Repertory, and Pride Films and Plays.
After a hiatus from the theater, Steve found his passion for the art form again while completing graduate studies at the University of Chicago – a journey which culminated in writing his original play Winter Garden about Edwin and John Wilkes Booth – and laid the groundwork for the formation of Tin Drum Theatre Company.
Steve is proud to be part of Chicago’s storefront theater scene and excited to contribute to the tradition of intimate stage performances that have long inspired and engaged the artists and audiences of our great city.
Jason Palmer – Director

[he/him] Jason is humbled to be working with such an enthusiastic and talented group of people directing the Chicago premiere of Incognito. By day, Jason dabbles in Operations Management; he is honoured to be a founding member and Co-Artistic Director of Tin Drum Theatre Company. Most recently, he directed TD’s inaugural production of Winter Garden by Steve Needham last year.

Dr. Joseph M. Williams – Consulting Neuropsychologist
Dr. Joseph M. Williams [he/him] is a Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Illinois Wesleyan University, where his research and teaching focuses on the use of spinal cord stimulation to alleviate chronic pain and the interplay of EEG brain activity, memory, and learning—especially how the hippocampus and frontal lobes shape attention and self-narratives. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and has supervised student research projects on memory and conditioning in IWU’s Behavioral Neuroscience Lab .
Off the clock, Dr. Williams has embraced the Chicago comedy scene—completing seven levels of improv training at ComedySportz and diving deep into sketch writing at Second City—while also writing his debut novel, The Fringe Dwellers, a dark comedy about love, identity, and chaos. His dual expertise in cognitive science and storytelling made him a perfect guide for Incognito, where memory, identity, and linguistic precision collide.
Dr. Williams is proud to serve as consulting neuropsychologist on this production, helping Tin Drum bring scientific authenticity—and a little comedic flair—to this exploration of what it means to be “you.”
